The wedding season finale for most couples is coming to an end. The chill winter winds and festive weddings don’t make a good match. They claim that its just not the right fit.
I’ve written down some attire ideas that seem appropriate when it comes to being a good guest. We all know which colors to expect at a fall wedding. The deeper, more smoky colors will be selected over blush and pastel tones. The wedding party will present to you a more mysterious atmosphere. Overall, it’s a vibe!
One common mistake to avoid is looking like the bride. This special occasion is marked in your calendar as the bride’s day to take over the spotlight. If you wish to wear white, make sure that it’s a patterned white. A great example is floral print! Floral dresses naturally portray gentle feminism. This fabric automatically give off a flirty/fun personality that shines within the dress. The Florentine Dress by Adored Vintage is a fun choice to wear to a fall wedding. I call it the “grab my glass and walk barefoot on sand” dress. The dress gives off a care-free yet put-together look that every girl needs. And when I’ll get cold, my husband’s blazer will take care of me. You'll be getting second glances without stealing the bride’s spotlight.
Bring your own knitwear or jacket because not all fall weddings provide guests with blankets and hot cider. When the sun begins to set, you will feel the crisp air that will cause goosebumps to appear on your skin if you don’t get moving. Cardigans, oversized sweaters and blazers will definitely keep you warm. Again, I personally would choose a layer that has a wrap, a bow, or a ruffle or two. This will also elevate your outfit by creating chic layers that is appropriate fall attire. The Vetiver Top by Adored Vintage falls under every lovely category that I expressed. It is my perfectly perfect layering piece that will continue to be used for many occasions.
Dancing or not, comfy shoes are a must. Honestly, heeled sandals can be comfy as well depending on the brand. In the past, I’ve owned beautiful shoes that only looked great on display. Ten minutes into wearing them, my feet would be in pain. Other brands offer better quality but for more money. These brands create better wear than just the display.
When purchasing your heeled sandals, take an actual feel to see what it’s like to live in them. Don’t be shy to walk around wearing them at the store. After all, you are buying new shoes to wear to a wedding. They have to be reliable enough to get you to the dessert table.
I suggest that as a guest, you shouldn’t put too much effort into your hair-do. Try to avoid super fancy hair like the bridal party. Granted, the bridal party themselves like to avoid fancy hair-do’s themselves. The SUPER stiff “prom hair” is vanishing with no signs of returning back and I’m very happy about it. Loose waves or naturally straight gives off a light, carefree look.
If the invite gives you permission to bring a plus one, then I suggest you do it! Showing up to a party with a good date promises you company at all times. You will be seeing new faces and meeting new souls. It’s always relaxing to have someone by your side when you need a break. Even the most extroverted people need time to recharge.
Without forgetting the real reason why we are here today, don’t forget to congratulate the newlyweds before leaving. Shower them with blessings and compliments. Take the time to show your grateful appreciation. It’s more important for it to be done in person rather than via text or social media.
It doesn’t take much to be a good guest but it does take more to be a good friend. Good friends are always the first on the guest list.
