‘‘Tis the season to be chilly.”
Hello ladies,
Turns out you and me both love the season of Autumn.
You know what else is lovely? Being a shining star in a crowd of greys and blacks. This Fall, we are not going for the mainstream outfits that fall under the category of “Fall”. I suggest we set a new rule. The kind of rule that won’t get you into trouble if you break it. A rule that embraces being broken when you to step out of your comfort zone and own it. Here I go again about not doing things the safe way. I believe it actually works. This will get you places, people, and opportunities. Please remember to guard your heart as you exit your bubble.
Accessories - a lot can be said with that fancy addition to your outfit. Accessories can tell your story in a subtle way without speaking loud. A necklace with a meaningful initial is an everyday add-on that automatically completes the look. Dramatic glasses that shape your face let us get away with things. Having a fedora or a beret on your head doesn’t only keep you warm, but also makes you seem approachable. “Where are you from?” “Oh, I’m visiting from Europe.”
The Oscar Award winning pieces of clothing have to be basics. A good example of a basic piece would be a solid-colored turtleneck, a neutral sweater, or a white tee. A layered basic piece can be worn every day of the week. It can also be saved for the weekend. Having a basic top means that you can pull off a “not so basic” bottom. Instead of going for jeans, wear corduroy pants. Instead of going for mini skirts, wear a midi skirt (that’s a challenge for most women). Choosing a dress with an exclusive fabric sets the standards high. My favorite fabric this season has to be sateen. It’s a subtle kind of shine.
Boots get you places without freezing your toes off. Just because boots are worn all the way down on your feet, that doesn’t mean that they deserve less attention. Just like summer sandals, winter boots can dress up your outfit completely. When a black bootie doesn’t cut it, go for black patterned boots. White or nude colored boots can add regality. Oftentimes, women like to avoid light colored shoes in the winter because of the rain and snow. In my opinion, as long as the shoe makes you happy knowing that you’ll be stepping out of your cozy, comfort zone - buy them. After all, life is short. Walk this earth confidently.
The irresistible smell and feel of Autumn can last longer than expected. Woody and spicy perfume bottles have trapped the seasonal scent forever. The nice thing about it is that you can breathe it anytime. Find a perfume bottle that describes you as a unique individual.
Fall doesn’t have to feel stressful when coordinating your outfits or your home decor. All you have to do is go with your gut and not care about what the others think of your creation. That's the beauty of personality. It can be recognized anywhere.
