What does the word “quality” mean to you? In my opinion, quality reflects an “everlasting experience.” A timeless piece with endless function - that, which has an eternal art of achieving and delivering. When purchasing or creating quality goods, the focus is on the durability, the details, and the uniqueness. For me, quality is everything. Quality has a heart behind it. Quality is put together with passion. Is this what we look for when we go shopping?
Quality can be pricier, indeed! You have to pay for the labor of the art piece. Which is why quick learners value the price of quality over quantity. They go for less of more. To spend money wisely is a talent. I strongly believe that we all have this gift that is just waiting to be revealed.
With that being said, there are creative ways to own quality pieces in life without breaking the bank. In my experience, sewing your own clothing and learning to shop at the right time can create some serious saving. These are the two methods I can always rely on - for they have have never let me down.
Before I confuse you too much, let me get one thing clear. I’ve never sewed my own clothing before (instead, I handpick my inspiration on Pinterest or IG). My wonderful mother-in-law is an amazing seamstress and dress genius. Mama Dina can make your inspiration picture come to LIFE!
I found this beautiful Chloe dress that was obviously out of my budget. The only way I can afford anything that looks remotely close to that dress was by making it myself (DIY). Mama Dina and I went to a fabric store and chose the appropriate material for this dress to come alive. As you can see on my photos, mom did an incredible job. I am so thankful for all of the attention to detail! On top of that, she sewed me and Teddy matching wool bottoms. This doesn’t come even near to what she has already done for us. From baby swaddles to wool stuffed animals, she has magic fingers. Now this is a talent we can all appreciate!
Chasing good deals and sales can get overwhelming. Which is why subscribing for emails to your favorite store can be beneficial. Saving time along with money is a deal we can’t resist. Know the upcoming events and holidays to be ahead of the game. Plan ahead! Nobody likes a last minute store run! Everything lovable seems to disappear when you go shopping two days prior to a themed event. I say, go with quality even if there's a smaller selection. You can get a lot more use out of your final quality choice. Plus, you can always pass your quality purchases to your sister or a girlfriend. After that, try washing away a grin from both of your faces. Didn’t think so..
Special thanks goes to Brooke Lynn, a local photographer, with whom I bonded with over a cup of coffee. If you’re ever in the area and need to book a portrait shoot, Brooke yields some serious camera power! Join me and follow her incredible photography page on Instagram here
Below are the links to my inspiration for the summer of 2018. I find the creativity behind these ideas to be dazzling. Whether to purchase or explore, in conclusion, you will be inspired.
